Mono County Working with ByWater to Test Koha

ByWater Solutions, a recently added partner to the project, has begun work with Mono County Library on a test migration to Koha.  Mono County Director, Bill Michaels, says that the system needs to look at ways to save costs but weren't in a position to test out the software on their own.  ByWater offered to do a partial migration of their data, set up a server for Mono at the ByWater co-location facility, and will work with Bill Michaels and his "in house tech guy" and Senior Librarian, Peter Hodges, to configure it according to Mono County's needs.

The project will be used as a demonstration of potential cost savings associated with moving to Koha (from Sirsi) and it will also provide an opportunity to document the workload associated with doing the migration.  Mono is under no obligation to go live with Koha but Bill says they will seriously consider whether full migration to a hosted version of Koha might be a good option for Mono County.
